Firefighters and Steam Pumpers. 1826-1920, that provides an insight into the change that the introduction of steam power in factories, in transport and, above all, in the work of firefighters meant for the city.
The revolution brought on by the advent of this new energy also reverberated in the fire service, as steam pumpers allowed the city’s fires to be fought in a much more comprehensive and effective manner.
In the exhibition we discover old hand pumps and steam pumpers from the late 19th century, witnessing the city’s parallel evolution against the backdrop of the greatest technological progress experienced until that time.
