A Chinese delegation visits the Espai Bombers and the Emergency Coordination Centre

Six representatives from the departments that handle emergencies in Hubei and three cities in this province exchanged experiences and knowledge and looked at possibilities for cooperation with Barcelona’s emergency services, including the Fire Service.

Areas addressed by Friday’s visit included:

  • Managing emergencies and information on preventive alerts handled by the centre in connection to potential disasters.
  • The various methods used for rescuing or assisting members of the public.
  • How material stocks are managed in emergencies.

The delegation also visited the Emergency Operations and Coordination Centre (CECOR), which will soon be moving to the Tres Xemeneies area in the district of Sants-Montjuïc. The new centre will provide a single site for all the emergency and safety corps that intervene in incidents reported via the 112 emergency phone number; the City Police, the Barcelona Fire Service, the Mossos d’Esquadra police corps, the Medical Emergencies System (SEM) and the Barcelona Social Emergency and Urgent Care Centre (CUESB).
