Safety and prevention. This year’s contest was held at the APM Terminal at the port.

The competition is held every two years and offers an aerial rescue training opportunity for over 150 firefighters from all shifts at the city’s fire stations. The location used was the APM Terminal at the port, where cranes, lifts, containers and other elements can be used to create aerial working scenarios.

The contest consists of a series of competitive activities, with firefighters taking part voluntarily. The equipment and materials deployed are the same as those used by the service, and the manoeuvres carried out are similar to those which could be required in a real situation.

Barcelona’s firefighters take mandatory training modules in aerial rescue. They have received 120 hours of training and taken part eight times in different competitions at a national and international level. As a service they are at the forefront in terms of materials and aerial rescue techniques, much of this high level being gained through experience in the different competitions.

The awards will be given at the Espai Bombers on Friday, 8 April. The team with the best results will take part in the Rescue Great Day in Seville in May.
