Safety and prevention. Activities for young children include the participation of the Barcelona Fire Service and their vehicles.

The Espai Bombers, the safety and prevention training and exhibition centre for the Barcelona Fire Service, is expanding its usual weekend programme during the festivities for La Mercè and will be offering an open day and free guided tours for all members of the family.

The Espai Bombers will be open from 11 am to 3 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, 24 September, offering 60-minute guided tours for adults at various times: from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm, from 1 pm to 2 pm, from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm and from 6 pm to 7 pm.

These guided tours will allow visitors to discover the history of the Barcelona Fire Service and the building, which was the first purpose-built fire station, constructed for the International Expo of 1929.

The museum space will be opening from 11 am to 3pm on Sunday, 25 September, offering activities for young children and giving them to chance to climb on board fire service vehicles, discover the equipment they carry and even give some of it a try. This visit lasts between 45 and 60 minutes and includes the participation of the Bombers Solidaris.

Finally, on Monday, 26 September, the Espai Bombers will be offering free admission from 11 am to 3pm, not for guided tours but for visitors to discover its collection of over a thousand items. Highlights in the collection include the Delahaye fire engine, better known as the Genoveva, one of the most iconic vehicles in the history of the corps.

Besides the items displayed, the Espai Bombers features interactive resources and audio-visuals which allow users to experience the sensations people may feel during a fire.

All activities require prior registration by mailing espaibombers@bcn.cat or by phoning 932 565 434, indicating the number of visitors and time slot chosen.

See you there!
