Creation and research in the field of dance and performing arts
The old factory complex of the Dutch manufacturer Philips hosts this centre for body- and movement-based creation intended for dance and performing arts research.
El Graner is a centre in the La Marina del Port Vell neighbourhood that is devoted to the support of everything that occurs within the field of dance and body language. We strive to be a space that is open, available and flexible, able to generate conditions that favour creation while establishing a productive and ongoing dialogue with our surroundings.
El Graner is a space for artists and performing arts creators to experiment, rehearse, create, receive ongoing training, and follow different lines of work with the aim of making an impact on the creative fabric from a variety of contexts. The main pillars of El Graner are: creation, research, training, proximity and internationalisation.
Objectives
To provide support to artistic creation, increasing visibility and contributing to its internationalisation.

Graner is located in the neighbourhood of La Marina, in the old Philips industrial building. It was an important part of the Philips light bulb factory, which stood just off the Passeig de la Zona Franca. Its shape earned it the name of “graner” (barn), although the space was originally built for the purpose of operating as a light bulb drying warehouse, a function it performed for many years. The Dutch multinational closed the factory for good in 2004.
