Anna Llopis’s take on Joan Brossa
A new exhibition on the author at the Centre de les Arts Lliures
Joan Brossa. The mental sensation of complete happiness, an exhibition curated by Anna Llopis, is based on the fascination still felt for Joan Brossa today, enabling the poet to speak through his work. Using twelve distinctive areas of his poetry, the exhibition demonstrates how Brossa put the possibilities of visual and artistic language at the service of poetry by cultivating poetic prose, scenic poetry, visual poetry, object poems and literary poetry. By holding this exhibition, the Joan Brossa Foundation’s Centre de les Arts Lliures is continuing the legacy of a space intended to be permanently dedicated to Joan Brossa, and is doing so with a unique arrangement that breaks with all hierarchies and which at the same time enables an exhaustive and essential discovery or rediscovery of Joan Brossa. The tour features some sixty works - including object poems, visual poems, publications and documents - hailing from the Joan Brossa Foundation itself, from the MACBA and other institutions, art galleries and individual collectors, and invites its visitors to reinterpret, experience and take a deep look at Brossa from today’s perspective.
The curator, Anna Llopis Cardona, is an art historian and cultural manager. She has worked in several museums and institutions and collaborated on both artistic and literary exhibition projects. She has also curated art and thematic exhibitions for institutions such as the Vila Casas Foundation, the Barcelona Municipal Libraries Network and Tinta Invisible Edicions. She is currently an exhibitions coordinator at Barcelona’s Picasso Museum, a job which she combines with work on other curatorial and research projects relating to contemporary Catalan art.
Admission is free and the exhibition can be visited at Espai A at the Centre de les Arts Lliures as from 9 November 2023
