Carles Hac Mor and Ester Xargay’s audiovisual and/or video poetry projects, and their connection with film, video and video installations, were an essential and distinctive part of their work. Film was always one of Carles Hac Mor’s favourite creative and inspirational media, whether working as a film critic for the magazine Visual (edited by Eugeni Bonet and Manuel Huerga) or later for Arc Voltaic in the 1980s and 1990s. All the while, he was an iconoclastic and experimental artist who created his first audiovisual works in Super-8 and later in video with the invaluable help of Ester Xargay. And, of course, film was also Ester Xargay’s primary means of expression, which she inextricably linked to poetry. Using very direct testimonials (from Manuel Huerga, Maite Ninou, Eugeni Bonet, Jordi Cadena and Isaki Lacuesta), we will try to shed light on Carles Hac Mor and Ester Xargay’s contributions to this field and their experimental and heterodox experiments with the medium, as well as their intersections and interconnections with poetry and contemporary art.
