One of the city's century-old markets was born as an open-air market in the Plaça de la Revolució in the old Vila de Gràcia. It was the year 1892 and it was built on the initiative of an industrialist named Puig Martí, although it later passed into municipal hands. Opened under the name of Santa Isabel, for a time it coexisted with the open-air market.

Architecture

Like other century-old markets in the city, it has a metal architectural structure with exposed brickwork and consists of three sections: a large nave with a central body and two sides, which also stands out for its oval roofs.

Rebuilt in 1965, it regained for a time the name of Revolution Market until it was renamed Abaceria Central.
