La ciutat expansiva

Barcelona 1860-1900

After the wall had been pulled down in 1856, the approval of the Cerdà Plan laid the foundation for the building of the Eixample, a completely new city ten-times bigger than the one at the time and spread out so it could connect with the other municipalities on the plain, which it ultimately swallowed up. Offering a highly educational approach, the book goes over the urban development of the city and the main historical events through a large number of original plans and charts, contemporaneous photos of extant sites and historical material from a variety of sources.
