Between Francesc Macià and Carrer Marina
Alternative 1: Overground section along Avda. Diagonal with reserved platform
This option corresponds to connecting the two tram networks by continuing the overground tram line along Avda Diagonal. It therefore bridges the two tram lines along the shortest possible route and offers a solution to the current lack of public transport at the final section of Avda Diagonal, between C/ Nàpols and C/ Glòries.
Main features:
- Of the six stops planned, note the connections between stop 3 (Passeig de Gràcia - Pau Claris) and metro lines 3 and 5 and between stop 4 (Girona – Bailèn) and metro lines 4 and 5 (Verdaguer). It will also connect to the New Bus Network (NXB)’s interchanges at the Passeig de Gràcia - Pau Claris stop with lines H8 and V17 at the Jardinets de Gràcia interchange.
- Keeping the four lines of existing trees as a structural element and distinctive feature of the avenue.
- Keeping the pavements, which had recently been constructed between Francesc Macià and Passeig de Gràcia, giving it continuity up to C/ Sardenya. This arrangement allows considerable pavement width (7.5 m) in contact with the ground floors of the street's buildings, with good length-wise continuity along the avenue and by incorporating triangular-shaped little squares that are repeated every 300 m.
- Existence of rain water collector along the middle of the central part of the avenue and the planned extension of this collector along the mountain-facing side, provided the tramway is installed along the sea-facing side.
