Democratic Memory

Je vous offre les oiseaux – I offer you the birds is an audiovisual installation by Marta Marín-Dòmine organised to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The installation takes the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp as its reference point to show the distortion produced in a situation of extreme violence between the perception of Nazi camp survivors that they never saw a bird fly over the area and a study that catalogued the presence of as many as 127 different species of birds.

Project promoted by the Commissioner for Memory Programmes in collaboration with the Barcelona History Museum (MUHBA). Conceived by Marta Marín-Dòmine, with sound by J. M. Berenguer and images by Blai Tomàs.
