We keep the records of contemporary Barcelona
We are in charge of receiving, keeping, treating and disseminating over 18 kilometres of records produced and received by Barcelona’s central executive and administrative bodies from the first third of the 19th century to the present day.
We provide a service to researchers, scholars and members of the general public who are interested in consulting the records we keep. The AMCB is one of the most consulted archive centres in Catalonia.
It has two document repositories at different locations, depending on what you would like to consult:
- The Main Centre, where we preserve and publicise the fonds of historical records kept permanently.
- The Intermediate Archives, where we treat and manage the most recent records and those kept temporarily.
