"Photomemories" project
The "Photomemories" project of the Photographic Archive of Barcelona, conceived and carried out by Clicme, was born with the aim of stimulating memory through photography to groups of elderly people. It arose in 2016 as a result of some workshops with images and people with Alzheimer's disease. Seeing the capacity that these had to generate memories and well-being among people, we decided to also take it to older people who did not suffer from the disease but who did have certain cognitive difficulties typical of age. This new format has been in place since 2019, and it varies to adapt to the needs of the people who participate each year.
One of the purposes of this project is to integrate the elderly into the life of the Photographic Archive of Barcelona and give them the opportunity to express themselves, allowing them to meet, share and socialize. The intention is to bring wellbeing, contribute to active aging and make the AFB's collections known among this group. It is important to highlight the fact that, as active members of society, they can make major contributions to the community.
