Acquisitions AFB
Periodically, we incorporate more photographs which gradually enrich our holdings. These come from the Barcelona City Council fonds, individuals, photographers, businesses and other organisations.
Our acquisitions policy gives preference to photographs of Barcelona and of people or events that help to reconstruct the history of the city from any period.
We give priority to photographs by photographers who are natives of the city or who have carried out a large part of their professional activity there.
When we receive a donation proposal, the first thing we value is the state of conservation of the photographs and their content.
It is important to note that we only accept original photographs, i.e. camera originals and prints of the author or of the period.
When a photographic collection enters the AFB, before it is made available for public consultation, it must first be conditioned and digitised. Once this has been done, it can then be consulted through the AFB's consultation tools.

Amb l’increment de fotografies i postals de l’any 2023, l’Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona conserva actualment 3.572.849 fotografies.
