Organisations and facilities in the neighbourhoods of La Marina are offering a series of educational activities from 7 to 26 October, to raise awareness about the need to take care of the planet in our local surroundings. The aim is to motivate people of all ages to protect the environment, at the same time strengthening ties between local people to bring about positive change in our neighbourhood.

Let’s recycle and give life!
From 7 to 13 October at the Espai Química Joves and the Espai Jove La Bàscula
We’ll be collecting items that can later be used as recycled materials in the family workshops of La Marina Viva. A way to give a second life to things we would normally throw away without thinking about it: egg cartons, cardboard tubes from inside toilet rolls and plastic milk bottles.

Neighbourhood route: where’s the greenery?
Monday, 7 October, at 6 pm, meeting point at the Casa del Rellotge
La Marina is one of the neighbourhoods with the largest area of gardens in the city. Spaces with unique designs and more species of vegetation. But many of you will ask; where’s the greenery? We’ll be following a route to analyse this and then creating a report for Barcelona City Council.

Recycling workshop: decorative frame
At the Biblioteca Francesc Candel on Wednesday, 9 October, at 6.30 pm
Using recycled materials such as egg cartons, coloured paper and much more, we’ll create a beautiful decorative frame where your chosen animal will be the protagonist. A fun and creative activity to give life to materials and let your imagination soar!

Waste collection in Montjuïc
Sunday, 13 October, at 11 am, meeting point at the CAP Carles Ribas
We know what we need to do to improve our environment, yet we don’t always act as we should to make a better world. Because of this, we’ll be cleaning up the mountain of Montjuïc, particularly the paths nearest the neighbourhood. A chance to look after our surroundings and emphasis their rich environmental value.

Creations with the family: let’s make an insect hotel
Monday, 7 October, from 5.30 pm to 7 pm at the Centre Cívic Casa del Rellotge
We’ll be making an insect hotel with recycled materials and things we can find in the Jardins de Can Farrero. At the same time we’ll learn how important these spaces are for conserving a balance in the biodiversity of insects. You need to bring an empty five-litre water bottle.
Aimed at families with children aged between 7 and 11. By Monatur, an environmental education project that seeks to promote environmental awareness among the whole of society.

Cultural itinerary: visit to the allotment at Can Mestres
POSTPONED UNTIL THE WORK IS COMPLETED. setting off from the Centre Cívic Casa del Rellotge at 9.45 am
Crops and animals share this large cultivation area of 11,000 m2. In this visit we’ll get a better understanding of organic agriculture and strategies for controlling infestations without using chemical products. Besides the local people that tend to the allotments here, this space is home to goats, geese, hens and other small animals.
Activity for adults, organised by the Centre Cívic Casa del Rellotge and the Centre Cívic La Cadena, with the collaboration of La Fàbrica del Sol.

Natural cosmetics: craft soap
Fridays 18 and 25 October, from 6 pm to 8.30 pm, at the Centre Cívic La Cadena
We’ll be learning how to make natural soaps based on the craft method, to look after the environment. Cost of registration and materials: €39.29

Saturdays at La Cadena: travelling with Glu
Saturday, 19 October, from 11 am at the Centre Cívic La Cadena
Glu is a tiny drop of water that goes on a fantastic journey full of adventures and emotions. Glu will discover fear, courage, generosity, gratitude… The story uses the natural cycle to talk to us of the universal value of water and the dangers of pollution.
A family activity, run by Cia. Fes-t’ho Com Vulguis.

Bags with t-shirts
Saturday, 26 October, from 11 am to 1.30 pm, at the Centre Cívic La Cadena
We’ll learn how to reuse t-shirts to create bags to use when we go shopping or as an original accessory.
Activity for adults with the collaboration of Millor que Nou.
