The official presentation has now been held for the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya 2024, with this year’s round-Catalonia cycling tour set to make history with the addition of a women’s event in stages and a demanding men’s route.
The main new feature for 2024 is the first edition of the women’s Volta a Catalunya, to be held from 7 to 9 June. The event will have three stages, with opportunities for different types of cyclists.
The men’s event will be held from 18 to 24 March, with three of the seven stages featuring mountain finish lines: Vallter, Port Ainé and Queralt (Berga). The event starts and finishes in Barcelona, with a total of 23 scoring points.
Tadej Pogačar, Sepp Kuss, Geraint Thomas and Egan Bernal are just some of the big names confirmed for the men’s event. The tour includes seven stages around Catalonia.
As part of the presentation, Medals of Honour for the event were awarded to Jordi Altimiras, Ramon Besa, Joan Calaf, Carles Meléndez and Marta Vilajosana.
The ceremony ended with a performance of “La Bicicleta”, the official song for the Volta a Catalunya 2024.
This edition of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya will be one of the most complete and exciting competitions in the history of this event.
