We are left with no choice other than to talk to and profit from them in our day-to-day existence. The ghosts of yesterday resembled those who once were, whereas today’s avatars are no longer bound by this condition. So how, then, can one tell who is and isn’t a ghost in a phantasmagoric public sphere (phantom + agora = assembly of ghosts)?
