On 20 June 1889, Mercè Anzizu i Vila entered the Monastery of Pedralbes as a postulant. She qualified as a nun a year later and took the name of Sr Eulàlia Anzizu. In 1916, aged 48, she would die as a result of a cardiovascular disease but she left a big mark on the monastery’s history. A patron, historian, writer and translator, Sr Eulàlia Anzizu succeeded in establishing this monumental site as one of the best examples of religious Catalan Gothic architecture at a time, the turn of the century, when Romanticism set its sights on awakening the national consciousness of the (Catalan) people and asserting the country’s historyOn 20 June 1889, Mercè Anzizu i Vila entered the Monastery of Pedralbes as a postulant.
