Nobody could portray Barcelona’s night-time activity around the city’s bars at the start of the 1980s like the multi-faceted artist Guillem Cifré.
He did so in gonzo fashion, reflected in his solitary accounts and almost poetic dialogues, their not-so-absurd absurdness reminiscent of those by Samuel Beckett. Now is the time to revisit his first comic strips, published by newspapers in Barcelona. Cifré invites us to a last drink brimming with humour and colour, qualities he used with unusual skill. It's time for that last round then, and a chance to relive 1980s Barcelona through a unique gaze and some comic strips that are now an enduring memory.
What are them saying
