The best Domènech i Montaner specialists brought together in a single book with magnificent images of his entire work. Lluís Domènech i Montaner was one of the most influential figures of the Catalan Renaissance and Art Nouveau (Modernista) period, a man who stood out in many spheres of Catalonia’s social and cultural life.
In the centenary year of Lluís Domènech i Montaner’s death, we bring together in a single book the best specialists on Domènech in general and on his buildings in particular, to understand this multifaceted personality and interpret the work of a leading architect in the history of European art.
The book begins with introductory articles that present the architect in the context of European Art Nouveau and explain his different facets: civic, political, academic, and so on, before continuing with monographs of his buildings, from the Editorial Montaner i Simon (1879-1881) to the Casa Fuster (1908-1911), and which, naturally, also include the Palau de la Música and Hospital de Sant Pau, both World Heritage Sites.
