‘Given that there are specialists out there, I’m content with being, like Carles Mir, the heart of the film fan. And everyone knows this heart has its own reasons that no other reason will ever understand.’

This is how Terenci Moix defined Carles Mir over twenty years ago. It is a description that could also apply to this book, which offers a tour of the Barcelona of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s and its cinemas, most of which no longer exist.

With its treasure trove of images of the premises themselves, posters and tickets from the time, this book is a tribute to all the cinemas that, before multiplexes, created communities and brought to Barcelona all the films the city’s people could dream of.

Carlos Mir
