Montjuïc cemetery is a reflection of the society and history of Barcelona in the last century and a half. Since 1883, the cemetery located in the southwest of the city has interred as many people as there are living in the city today. Pantheons of the bourgeoisie and mausoleums of politicians live side by side in a complex which has areas for remembrance, and spaces dedicated to religions other than Catholicism as well as for atheists.
