Organic Waste is made up mainly of leftover food and green waste from gardening that we generate at home. Organic waste is taken to the so-called ecoparks, where through various mechanical, physical and biological processes it is converted into compost and gas, depending on the quality of the organic material collected. The highest quality organic material, i.e. the cleanest and free of inappropriate waste (glass, plastic, metals), undergoes a composting process to obtain compost, which can be used as organic fertilizer in agriculture and gardening or as a soil structure improver to restore soil in degraded spaces. The remaining organic material, containing more inappropriate waste and therefore of lower quality, is used to generate biogas, a renewable energy source for electricity production.
