Cartons are multimaterial containers made of a combination of cardboard, polyethylene plastic and aluminium. The combination of materials makes their recycling very complex; as such, at most only roughly 75% of the container can currently be recycled –the part that is cardboard. The remaining percentage becomes waste that cannot be recycled.
