This Christmas, Barcelona has organised a new edition of Barcelona Llums de Nadal, a project that pursues illuminations with their own visual identity and that convert the city into a great urban stage of light, creativity and design. The initiative strengthens the connection between public space, local commerce and culture, and encourages residents to rediscover neighbourhoods through light.

Until 6 January 2026, the city will have 126 kilometres of illuminated spaces that connect streets, businesses and heritage. Fountains, emblematic buildings, municipal markets, hotel façades and individual businesses form part of a light map that transforms each stroll into a shared, visual experience.

One of the main new features this year is the Signature lights proposal. Six design studios have erected innovative installations at emblematic locations such as Plaça Catalunya, Gran Via, Carrer Aragó, Passeig de Sant Joan, Via Laietana, the DHUB and Plaça de Sant Jaume. The installations were selected as part of a tender for ideas organised by Barcelona City Council in collaboration with ADI-FAD, and incorporate a contemporary look at Christmas.

Plaça de Sant Jaume is also hosting an immersive projection that reinterprets the classic symbols of Christmas, while the other signature installations interact with the urban environment and the commercial fabric, reinforcing the idea of the city as an open and accessible cultural setting.

The project is rounded off by the illuminations along 19 sections of streets thanks to the collaboration with associations of traders and districts, as well as with the installation of 25 luminous totems in the shape of reindeer distributed throughout the city.
