“Christmas lights illuminate commerce” transforms shop windows in Sant Antoni and Poble-sec
Design students collaborate with businesses in these two neighbourhoods to decorate the shop windows with light, creativity and innovation, as part of a new edition of the programme.
The Barcelona Creativity and Design Foundation (BCD Foundation), together with the Department of Commerce, Restaurants and Food at Barcelona City Council, is organising a new edition of “Christmas lights illuminate commerce”, an initiative that brings young creativity to the shop windows of establishments in the city’s neighbourhoods. The project encourages design schools and businesses, through associations and commercial hubs, to work together to create installations that integrate Christmas lighting into commercial spaces and convert them into a central piece of design.
This year, the shop windows created by students from various design schools can be visited from 4 December 2025 to 7 January 2026 in Sant Antoni and Poble-sec. During this period, citizens will be able to discover proposals that combine emerging talent, innovation and local commerce, and that turn a walk along these streets into a one-of-a-kind visual experience.
In Sant Antoni, the action will take place on 2 December with a tour of the participating stores, including establishments such as Petit Gegant, Bebe-té, Viladogcat Veterinaris, Mai Friends, Santa Antònia, Can Lecomte, Farmàcia Pascual Balañá Vives, Moré Joieria, Mardemar and La Crema. The route will feature the participation of representatives of the neighbourhood’s commercial establishments the BCD Foundation and the Department of Commerce, and will culminate with the awarding of the prize for the most innovative shop window.
On 4 December, the project will arrive in Poble-sec with a similar itinerary taking in the establishments of the Paral·lel-Poble-sec Merchants Association. Shops including Hathor Perruqueria i Estètica, Essenza Estética Avanzada, Centre Veterinari Pisadas, El Corner, Mecaelèctric BCN, Fil i Fet, Joguines Rubio, La Verdita Herbodietètica, YogaOne La Milagrosa and Horizon Chiropractic Barcelona will be part of the tour, which will also end with the award ceremony for the most innovative shop window.
A professional jury will award a prize to the most innovative shop window. The public can also participate in a popular vote to choose the best shop window of this edition.
