“Christmas shopping”: 100 activities to boost neighbourhood commerce this festive season
Barcelona organises a hundred music proposals, workshops and travelling shows to fill the streets with life and give local commerce a boost during the festive season.
Over the 2025 Christmas season, the city’s trade associations, together with the Department of Commerce, Restaurant and Food Services, will be organising “Christmas shopping”, an extensive programme of cultural, recreational and artistic activities to ensure everyone can enjoy local commerce and the Christmas atmosphere in Barcelona’s neighbourhoods.
This year, the city is filled with creativity, music and street actions full of light and joy. In total, 100 activities fill the high streets of the ten districts with proposals designed to be enjoyed with family or friends and to give the vitality of local commercial fabric a boost. The entire programme can be consulted here.
Live music is once again one of the big draws this Christmas. The Hip Horns Brass Collective, with its fusion of the sound of New Orleans and hip-hop, funk and gospel, will get the city streets buzzing. The Ermensinde Orchestra will also be there, with its dynamism of wind instruments; the South Side Strompers, who will bring soul and groove to the high streets, and the Carrie Lewis Band, with a show inspired by traditional jazz from the 1920s and 30s. The travelling stage show “You are like a light” will tour the streets and shops with doses of humour and energy. An unmissable occasion.
The programme includes workshops aimed to stimulate the creativity of adults and children alike. At the “Dressing the Christmas Table” workshop, Advent centrepieces can be made using ecological and sustainable materials, while at “Espurnes”, everybody can create handmade decorations for the tree. There will also be play areas such as minigolf, immersive activities such as “The Circus of the Senses” – an experience that invites you to look with your hands and listen to the invisible – and an original musical bingo game, without numbers. In addition, the Musicals’ Choir will play hit songs from well-known musicals.
