Subsidies for Christmas lighting 2025

The Barcelona City Council is calling for subsidies for Christmas lighting on the city's public roads for 2025.

The purpose of this call is to continue supporting the Christmas lighting initiative carried out by the territorial merchant associations of the city of Barcelona and to continue promoting local commerce during the Christmas period, creating a festive atmosphere and improving the image of the city.

  • It is aimed at non-profit territorial merchant associations that carry out the project in the city of Barcelona.

  • The application submission period will begin the day following the date of publication in the BOPB of the call, from June 26 to July 16 (both inclusive).

    The execution period of the actions will be between July 1, 2025 and January 31, 2026.

    The justification period for the subsidized activity will end on March 31, 2026.

  • You must submit:

    • Applications must be made electronically through the Barcelona City Council procedures portal, with a digital certificate.

    You must attach:

    • Web application form (Basic Document 1). 
    • Technical description of the project (Basic Document 2). 
    • Budget of the third party providing the service (with NIF, contact details and applicant entity). 
    • If the cost exceeds €15,000, 3 budgets and justification of the selection criteria will be required if it is not the most economical option. 
    • If there is a multi-year contract, it must be submitted signed with an attached budget.
    • The estimate must be issued by an APPROVED installation company.
    • The estimate must include the technical description of the ornamentation: type of ornamentation (figures, arches, etc.), technological type of lights (LED, etc.) and graphic images of the design, sections of street/s to be decorated and the amount, breaking down the value added tax.

  • The application documentation will be submitted ONLINE through the Barcelona City Council's electronic office, following the instructions indicated on this procedures portal. The corresponding digital certificate will be required.

  • The amount of the subsidy awarded will not exceed 75% (maximum €120,000 per applicant) of the cost of the project specified in the subsidy application documents.

    Territorial merchant associations where there are sections of streets where the Barcelona City Council itself provides Christmas light decoration services, may not be applicants for these subsidies.

  • New 2025: The call is for non-competitive applications. The order of registration determines the award.

    1. Administrative review of the documentation. 
    2. Provisional award and requests for amendments (10 working days). 
    3. Definitive award, with publication in the BOPB.
