Botín Foundation Visual Arts Grants
The Botín Foundation is announcing 8 Visual Arts grants aimed at training, research and production of individual projects in the field of artistic creation (not theoretical works) for artists of any nationality. Two grants will be allocated as a priority to native Spaniards or applicants who have been resident in Spain for a minimum of five years immediately prior to the grant application, each under the age of 30, to spend time overseas continuing their work, studies or in-house residency.
The bursaries will be direct, non-severable and non-transferable. Family allowance will not be available.
This grant is incompatible with any other type of aid or bursary awarded by an institution for the same purpose.
Length
The grant period will be 9 months, with the possibility of applying for an extension. (Consult rules)
Endowment
The amount of each grant is set at 23 000 Euros.
The amount includes costs for travel, accommodation, maintenance and studio rent, etc.
This amount will be augmented by medical insurance cover (in the case of a change of country)
These grants are subject to current taxation rules in Spain.
Means of payment: 45% at start, 25% during the two following calendar quarters and 5% on receipt of the final report.
Application Deadline

Documentation received by the Botín Foundation will be accepted during the week after the deadline provided the postmark corresponds to 3 May or an earlier date.
Conditions
The grant will become available immediately after it has been awarded for the stated period and without interruption. The project must commence before the end of 2019.
It will be considered officially awarded when the Botín Foundation receives the applicant’s written acceptance.

The jury will be announced after the deadline for receipt of applications.

Application Submission
The application form must be completed (on the website www.fundacionbotin.org or www.centrobotin.org/becas).
The rest of the documentation must be mandatorily sent in HARD PAPER COPY in an envelope marked "BECA ARTES PLÁSTICAS". Prior completion of the online application form is necessary before associated documentation can be received.
The documentation added to the application shall preferably be in Spanish, exceptionally in English.
For reasons of organisation and assessment, the applicant’s documents must be submitted in (DIN) A4, with a maximum of 40 single-sided A4 pages (unstapled and without binding). Any application not conforming to this norm will be rejected. In the case of audio-visual projects, the artist must include a DVD or USB device with the requested dossier.
The dossier submitted to this competition for the grant will not be returned after the decision.
The Botín Foundation reserves the right to request, prior to the jury’s decision, the submission of supplementary documentation.
Attached Documentation:
- Photocopy of NIF or NIE for residents in Spain or Passport or ID for other countries.
- Passport photo
- CV, highlighting completed studies, professional activities, exhibitions, prizes, previous grants, etc. (maximum 3 one-sided A4 pages)
- Project title and short synopsis (maximum 100 words) or training to be carried out. A report specifying aims, plan of action (development stages and dates) and personal account of reasons for carrying it out (maximum 10 one-sided A4 pages).
- Graphic documentation, printouts or colour photocopies of the artist’s project (originals will not be accepted, nor added documents such as catalogues, triptych, original works, etc.) On one-sided A4 sheets.
- For the 2 grants aimed at Spanish citizens and residents under 30: a report stating personal reasons for carrying out the residency in the chosen venue, information and a letter of acceptance from the centre (where the grant is for educational/training purposes), and the project to be developed in connection with its current projects.
