Dynamic Residencies
La Central del Circ has announced its call for applications for research and experimentation residencies.
This invitation is one of the residencies offered by La Central del Circ under different categories or creative transits. Each category is conceived as a creative stage that seeks to respond to the individual needs of each project according to its current state of development.
As part of the "En Origen" (“At Source”) transit, the dynamic residencies are aimed at circus artists who are developing a piece of research and creation not focused on the production of a show, and which has a prominent dimension of encounter and dialogue with other artistic disciplines. It provides a space for experimenting, creating energy and sharing moments of enquiry and comparison around an incongruous theme or practice or artform distinct to the circus.
A maximum of 2 proposals will be chosen from among all the applications for this grant.
Artistic Discipline
Circus
Candidate
Artists or companies from Spain or abroad who wish to encounter artists from other aesthetic disciplines around a specific topic to share and investigate without any plans for production.
The residency will be an encounter between one or more circus artist(s) and:
- Other artists who aren’t circus practitioners or with whom they’ve never worked
- An artist, professional or specialist unrelated to the circus but who could cultivate research-creation.
The encounter might also be carried through in other ways. La Central del Circ will give free rein to the imagination of the resident artists according to their requirements.
For example, previous dynamic residencies have seen the participation of professionals from the worlds of photography, choreography, university and scientific research, lyric song and music, etc.
Residency Duration
The residencies will take place between July 2018 and July 2019 with an obligation to start in 2018. More specific dates will be agreed with the companies according to their future commitments and the availability of work spaces.
Due to the high occupation rates of rooms and with the aim of allowing companies maximum opportunity to have access to a space, changes of date will only be accepted once residency dates have been agreed between the company and La Central del Circ. Such changes will need to be requested at least one month in advance.
