The call is directed at:

• Creators/choreographers born in Barcelona or its metropolitan areas.
• Creators/collectives and dance companies from other locations in Spain and abroad who are currently developing their creative activity in Barcelona or the surrounding metropolitan area.
• Creators, collectives and dance companies in the rest of Catalonia with links and close contextual ties with Barcelona or its surrounding metropolitan area.

This initiative hopes to have an immediate impact on the following objectives:

• Give support and visibility to local creativity.
• Support continuity and permanence for projects, an almost inexistent possibility in the current context of the dance sector, with the hope of a profitable return for the effort and investment of resources needed to organise an activity of this nature.
• Establish an audience; the continuity provided by 5 days of performances of the same programme will enable word-of-mouth circulation as a dissemination strategy for reaching new spectators for dance in the metropolitan area.
• Offer economic conditions that, beyond providing visibility to each work, allow for a more dignified work environment for chosen creators and their collaborator(s) (a high percentage of the budget will be invested in covering the costs of selected artists).
• Foster the growth of the performed works, providing opportunities to evolve and mature through continuous engagement with the public gaze.
• Prioritise quality over quantity, so that every aspect of the programming (contextual, technical, economic, communication-related) can be adequately taken care of.

Two distinct work typologies are sought, in accordance with the hosting spaces of La Caldera:

Modality A – longer works (more than 50 minutes) to be performed in Sala 6, fitted with light and sound equipment and stands for a maximum of 100 people.

Modality B – short pieces (maximum of 30 minutes) to be performed in Sala 1, fitted only with sound equipment and work lights (no lighting rig), which can be easily adapted to the space to ensure their authentic audience reception.

Contemporary dance pieces.

• Proposals which, for their artistic quality, subject matter or formal innovation, have the potential to connect with a wide spectrum of the public.
• We are particularly interested in new dramatic languages and experimentation and are keen to support emerging forms of creation.
• Submitted pieces must be finished projects with audio-visual and textual material to ensure their accurate assessment by the selection committee and subsequent programming dissemination.

For the selection process of the projects that will go forward to the programming schedule, a committee composed of at least 5 professionals from the dance sector will be formed, of which only one will be a representative of La Caldera, so as to guarantee transparency and a diversity of outlooks.

For their proposals to be assessed, candidates must submit the following documents:

1. CV of creator, collective or company
2. List of credits
3. Brief text or synopsis of submitted piece
4. Full project dossier
5. Video-link allowing full analysis of the submitted proposal
6. Other links to previous projects and related materials considered appropriate for an accurate assessment of the proposal
