Walter Benjamin Creation Grant
The Nau Côclea Centre of Contemporary Creation organises a route covering the journey between Banyuls and Portbou that Walter Benjamin undertook, guided by Lisa Fittko, in order to cross the border as he fled from the Nazi police and at the end of which he took his own life.
This route is undertaken every year with an artist whose project is specifically imagined for the route in the spirit of Walking Art, which consists of walking as an artistic practice. The winning project will be carried out during this walk, due to take place on Saturday 30 November 2019.
The Nau Côclea Centre of Contemporary Creation has been organising this route for eight years; it is part of the International Walter Benjamin Colloquium, organised by the Càtedra Walter Benjamin at the University of Girona and the Museum of Exile.
