In its fourth edition, the Benet i Jornet Grants have been awarded to Marc Angelet, Ivan Morales, and Marta Aguilar, for their respective writing projects: La relatora, Una nova carrera a una nova ciutat (working title), and Erma (working title).

The Benet i Jornet Grants aim to stimulate dramatic writing in the Catalan language and expand the repertoire of contemporary theatre works. Sala Beckett awards up to three grants per year through an open call. This year, the evaluation criteria included the theatrical interest and literary quality of the projects, as well as the connection of both the candidate and the work’s theme to the city of Barcelona or its metropolitan area.

This edition received the highest number of proposals to date, with a total of 50 projects submitted. The call is now part of the Barcelona Crea Grants – Creative Factories program. Each selected author receives a financial award of €6,000 and access to a dedicated space to develop their writing.
