“THE EYE TO SEE APPARITIONS” AT THE CENTRE FOR FREE ARTS
A visual arts project at the Centre de les Arts Lliures is open until 8 January 2023.
A project curated by Roser Bastida and Javi Morera.
In the summer of 2022, the Joan Brossa Foundation asked various poets to create a piece on an alleged ghost inhabiting the La Seca building (the head offices of the Joan Brossa Foundation). The important thing was not the poem itself, but the creative process followed by each poet. They had to try and document it, so it would be possible to understand what had awakened their poetic eye, what they had based the poem on and what thoughts had guided them during the creative process. The result is an attempt to bring together the multiplicity of processes, ideas, materials, artefacts and methodologies that the poets used in their creation process, in a singular setting that would induce creation.
The poets involved in this initiative are Roser Bastida, Raquel Pena, Carles Dachs, Laura G. Ortensi, Irene Gómez Diéguez and Francesc Vélez. This installation is an activation of the La Serp viva [The Living Snake] exhibition. It is also connected to a mediation programme with the Institut Escola Mirades, where there will be workshops relating to poetic creation, run by some of the resident poets.
