'Kawichipop!', an art-and-adventure summer camp
La Escocesa is organising a summer camp for children led by the artist Cristina Lina
Kawichipop! will take place in La Escocesa’s very own enclosure during the last week of June and is aimed at children between the ages of 6 and13. The camp will feature various workshops where participants will work with recycled materials to assemble huts and sculptures. The teaching approach to the activities is based around free play so that girls and boys can direct their own experiences of play.
Kawichipop! was one of the projects awarded a Research and Artistic Experimentation Grant by La Escocesa in the last round of applications. Cristina Lina, the project’s originator, is an English artist working in the fields of art camps and education. Over her career she has worked with various galleries, centres of education and projects that have led her to studying alternative methods of teaching and exploring artistic possibilities in play and leisure. The camp will be led by Cristina Lina herself and Helena Calafell Muñoz-Castanyer, a member of La Escocesa’s internal management team and, with extensive experience in the world of leisure, an officially qualified "Monitor of Educational Activities in Child and Youth Leisure".
The summer camp will be from 25-29 June. Registration will be open until 10 June and there is a cost of 20 € for the whole week. For more information, consult the website of La Escocesa or write to info@laescocesa.org.
