Residency in a collaboration between El Graner and L’Auditori
El Graner is once again collaborating with L’Auditori's Escenes Programme, hosting two projects in residence. One of them will premiere on 11 and 12 March 2023.
REGISTRES EVANESCENTS
Registres Evanescents is a project by Constanza Brnčić, in which an interdisciplinary group of artists explores the fragility of memory, the evanescence of recording systems and the notion of archives. Through the exploration of systems for capturing and recording the past, Registres Evanescents raises a series of questions that act as a trigger for the artistic process: how and why do we select some elements to be archived and not others? What is the corporal experience when you take elements from the archive and put them together somewhere else? What can we do with these objects? What can we do with the void created in the archive's order, its continuity? What rights of falsification, disorganisation and subversion does this new context, created in its exterior, bring to the archive? Registres Evanescents is a working framework that can be extrapolated to other archives and contexts where memory and recording are the central theme, such as museums, collections, heritage sites, historical and cultural archives.
This project was created in 2022, as part of the Creation and Museums Programme, run by the Barcelona Institute of Culture - Grec Festival. El Graner collaborated with the Museu de la Música to promote and support the research of Constanza Brnčić and her artistic team into memory and, based on the archive of the activist and musician Victor Nubla, with Gràcia Territori Sonor.
It will premiere on 28 and 29 January, at L’Auditori in Barcelona.
A BEGINNING #16161D
Created by Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou, A BEGINNING #16161D is a stage show about the limits of individual and collective identity. Starting with a search that begins in the dark, 5 performers sing and move around, exploring the possibilities of our not seeing them. Here, darkness is not something sinister, but rather an opportunity for fantasy. Darkness is the context in which imagination blossoms, to complete what we hear but cannot see. This is where our notions of time and space are altered. Where the limits of our own bodies dissolve and our individual and collective identities converge in the void.
Its premiere is on 11 March, at L’Auditori in Barcelona.
