Courses, workshops and (de)formacions at Barcelona’s Art Factories
Introduction to playwriting; workshops on clowning, graffiti or interactive interfaces; dance maintenance classes…
The training offered by the Art Factories is constantly renewed, and includes activities for professionals and introductory courses in various disciplines. The Sala Beckett/Obrador Internacional de Dramatúrgia has recently begun its spring courses, which include a wide range of activities related to theatre and playwriting, and are being delivered by outstanding teachers. For its part, La Caldera, in collaboration with the Professional Dance Association of Catalonia, is providing maintenance classes for dance professionals. The course that is currently underway is being led by Guillermo Weickert and will run until 26 April. Nau Ivanow will be running the Escriptura i creació per a intèrprets (Writing and creation for actors) course for two weekends in May (the 12th and 13th, and the 26th and 27th of May). The course will be delivered by actress Alejandra Jiménez Cascón and aims to explore playwriting through performing and vice-versa. Hangar also has a range of multidisciplinary training activities planned for the coming weeks, which will include a workshop on the construction of oracles, one on interactive interfaces and one regarding the application of the possibilities of smells in artistic and creative productions.
Training is ongoing at the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris; its projects include the Circus School for Children and Youths, and a wide range of activities aimed at the community which use circus as the central tool for education and integration. The Ateneu also runs the Training Programme for Social Circus Trainers.
Last March, La Escocesa launched the de(formacions) series, a set of workshops that pursue the objective of “training” and “un-training” by questioning our ways of delivering and understanding official education. For this reason, these workshops do not follow a specific methodology; each has its own starting point, and the rest is organised collectively with the participants.
Information on training courses and registrations can be found on the websites of each Art Factory.
