Intimate writing in Sala Beckett
A new dramaturgy seminar, from 2 to 5 October
The author and director of the new T de Teatre show, La dona fantasma [the woman phantom], comes to the Beckett to give a course on dramaturgy.
The seminar aims to work on writing what is known as “Intimate Literature”, i.e., letters, diaries and confessions. We shall also try to discover resources in literature in general (particularly in narrative and poetry) that can be applied to theatre, thereby broadening the limits of what theatre can explain. We shall also be working on what is known as the imaginary biography, i.e., biographical writing distanced from performance exhibitionism, creative writing about one's own life or the lives of strangers from formal perspectives, without paying attention to sentimentality. We shall explore the writing of a monologue that reads like a tale, but from a standpoint that turns it not into a narrative, but into theatre, and we shall also investigate how to write intimate letters and diaries which, based on certain principles, have a theatrical application. If, as Maria Negroni stated, imagination is autobiographical, the seminar aims to work with writing and intimacy in a powerful, original and theatrical way.
