THE SÂLMON< gets into gear
The festival is planning activities throughout 2021, culminating with the 2022 edition.
The ninth edition of the SÂLMON< Festival d’Arts Vives de Barcelona is on from 17 to 21 February and continues with various activities throughout the year before culminating with the 2022 edition.
The five days in February offer a live arts programme in a purpose-designed set for the occasion at the Mercat de les Flors, where audiences can attend and engage through a television magazine format. Before that, a three-week period beginning on 1 February offers a laboratory where five artists will be experimenting with the television format at the Fabra i Coats - Art Factory. Through this approach to the television format, the intention of the festival is not to reproduce conventional TV dynamics, but rather to create an open space able to break down the hierarchies between formats, genres and disciplines.
This year’s event embarks on a new era, jointly organised by the Antic Teatre, La Caldera, El Graner and La Poderosa, and featuring the artists Sofia Asencio, Bea Fernández, Ariadna Rodríguez and Iñaki Álvarez as the curators for a programme that goes on until 2022. The cultural manager Dianelis Diéguez will also join the team as an artistic and organisational coordinator. THE SÂLMON< continues to enjoy the support of Barcelona City Council (Barcelona Institute of Culture), as well as collaboration from the Mercat de les Flors and the Fabra i Coats - Art Factory.
