Sixth edition of Creation and Museums in the autumn
The city’s art factories and cultural centres are preparing artistic productions featuring theatre, dance, circus and music.
Creation and Museums came about following interaction between some art factories and museums with other centres in the city which see artistic creativity as a link with cultural action. Cultural facilities of different natures make their archives, collections and venues available to art factories so that creators from various disciplines can offer a different vision of their heritage, history and memory.
This joint work and complicity between artists and cultural centres gives rise to creativity which interacts with the facilities and reaches out to the public, making communal participation a further expression of artistic action.
As ever, the programme forms part of the Grec Festival, which runs until the 2020-2021 season this year due to the limitations caused by the Covid-19 crisis. Creation and Museums takes place during the Thinking Biennale in October and offers the following productions:
For the 2020 edition, Hangar artist Helena Vinent will be using videos and sounds to interact with the Museu de la Música, with La persistència del so. El Born CCM is the scene for a course on theatre techniques for performers, run by theatre director Ferran Utzet and organised by La Escocesa. Elsewhere, the Nau Ivanow takes the idea of the Ciutat Impossible as the starting point for a performance guided by stage director Aristeo Mora at the Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món. In the case of La Caldera, Laia Estruch and Marc Vives direct the performance-based participatory route Els camins de l'aigua, from the Casa de l’Aigua de la Trinitat Vella, belonging to the Museu d’Història de Barcelona. For its part, La Central del Circ is planning Tour, a production which sees trapeze-artist Carla Farreny engage in a dialogue with the collections from the Museu Frederic Marès. Finally, the Graner returns to the Castell de Montjuïc, where choreographer Paloma Muñoz’s piece Stone and Silk has been specially conceived for these surroundings.
