2018 RESIDENCIES AT LA NAU CÔCLEA
Residence at the Centre de Creació Contemporània Nau Côclea over the course of 2018.
International announcement for an opportunity to conduct a research project while in residence at the Centre de Creació Contemporània Nau Côclea over the course of 2018 (excluding July and August).
Artistic discipline
Visual arts, sound art, music, dance and choreography, theatre, performance and writing.
Also open to critique, essay and contemporary thought projects.

Application date
Applications for January to June and September to December 2018 will be accepted between 1 January and 31 August 2018. Applications will be dealt with as they are submitted.
Terms
Residencies include free accommodation for artists (a maximum of 4). Artists will be lodged in a small independent house with two double rooms, a small kitchen, a bathroom and a living room. Furnishings and wood heating are also provided. The house is surrounded by the fields and forests of Camallera (Alt Empordà). Artists can use the exhibition/rehearsal room for work (total size of 80 m2 with a small column in the middle and concrete floor and walls). Certain resources will be made available: video projector, sound system, etc. The staff at Côclea will help artists to make contact with the local population and suppliers of materials and services that are related to the research. They will also support the creative process in terms of production and communication.
The residency will be provided free of charge to up to 4 participants from the same project. However, the artists must come up with some form of exchange or return: open rehearsal sessions, workshops, works, etc. The return proposal will be specified in the application and will be agreed upon with the organisers.
The residency does not include travel costs or meal allowances.
Participation in this residency announcement implies full acceptance of the terms and conditions of the residency and of the resources offered.
Assessment criteria
When assessing the projects, the jury will take the following criteria into account:
- Quality of the content
- Consistency of the project
- Permeability and capacity for the proposal to be shared with multiple audiences
Selection
The jury is made up of the management team from Nau Côclea, a representative of Bòlit, Centre d'Art Contemporani de Girona, and an independent artist or critic.
Calendar
Application deadline: from 1 January to 31 August 2018
Resolution: Candidates will receive a response within 30 days of the receipt of their application. The resolution will then be published on Nau Côclea’s website, www.naucoclea.com
Application process
Artists wishing to apply for this residency must send an email to resident@naucoclea.com and attach a single document labelled with the name of the head of the project, which should include:
- Contact details of the head of the project
- The requested dates of the residency, with alternative options if applicable (proposing flexible or alternative dates will increase the likelihood of being admitted)
- A letter in which the artist, if selected, explicitly commits to taking up the residency during the stipulated dates and in accordance with the terms and conditions
- A description of the project that includes a proposal of exchange or return (up to 3 pages with a maximum of 3 photographs in JPG format and internet links: website, blog, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
- A brief CV (up to one page). Projects sent by post will not be accepted
