Application Period

4-24 March, inclusive of both days

Residency Features

The arts residency includes:

  • SPACE: Free rehearsal space for 3 months with potential for expansion. Timetabling of the residency will be examined and determined in a bid to adapt as far as possible to the requirements and rhythms of each project, bearing in mind the availabilities in relation to other activities being developed at the Civic Centre.
  • ARTS ADVICE: Two sessions of arts advice with various educationalists and clown and theatre directors approached by the Civic Centre.
  • PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION: A photographic session for the company arranged by a professional photographer contracted to the Civic Centre.
  • TECHNICAL SUPPORT: 3-hour technical session prior to the agreed day of performance, a technical review on the same day as the performance and support during the performance (if this repeat session is agreed on).
  • DISSEMINATION: The organisation will take on board all elements of the show’s external publicity and dissemination, both in terms of posters and social media.
  • EXHIBITION: Possibility of generating, at an opportune moment, appropriate contexts for sharing the creation processes and opening them up to external audiences with different outreach scopes; from small and professional groups to the general public.

Conditions

Support for the creative process will be based on exchange. The Civic Centre and the artist will formally agree an appropriate compensation for services rendered. This exchange may be in the form of a performance of the show at the Civic Centre, organising a workshop, participation in one of the Centre’s activities or events, etc... Once the artist or collective taking up the arts residency has been selected, there will be a meeting with the Centre’s staff to agree on the appropriate means of compensation or reimbursement.

Selection

The selection process will be conducted by individuals specialised in residencies and programme schedules organised at the Civic Centre.

Evaluation Criteria

  • The technical aspect of the show or spectacle must be compatible with Civic Centre’s space and materials.
  • Compatibility of timetables and spaces needed with the Civic Centre.
  • Willingness of the company to become involved in some of the programmed activities of the Civic Centre.
  • Professional and amateur artists and companies will both be assessed.
