Dramatic Arts Project at La Farinera del Clot

Companies will bid for three months rehearsal in available spaces, a show premiere at the centre’s Sala Jesús Concernau (accordingly, already-premiered pieces or those with a premiere date will be excluded from the competition), a percentage of the ticket sales for the premiere, technical advice and support for the design and dissemination of the show.

Arts Discipline

Any theatre or stage discipline. Companies solely involved in dance are excluded for lack of adequate spaces/venues.

Target Candidate

This call is aimed at all companies and groups working, whether as amateurs, semi-professionals or professionals, in any theatre or stage discipline whatsoever, except dance.

3 months. From start of March until start of June 2019

Conditions

  • 3 months rehearsal in the Cultural Centre’s available spaces. From early March until early June 2019.
  • World premiere of the show at the 180-seat-capacity Cultural Centre’s Auditorium. This means that neither already-premiered productions, nor those that already have a premiere date nor works-in-progress will be accepted.
  • Takings for the company (% of box office receipts) according to audience size.
  • Technical advice (sound and lighting) during assembly, general rehearsal and performance.
  • Advice and support regarding design and distribution for the show.

 

All companies that submit applications to this competition must accept a commitment to complete and premiere the project under the same conditions that have been described in the application. If this is not complied with or the project remains uncompleted, the company must compensate the Cultural Centre for the rehearsals carried out and for the non-fulfilled obligations.

Selection

The Assessment Committee, made up of staff at the Centre and independent professionals, will reject proposals that include racist, sexist or homophobic content or which violate human rights.

Evaluation Criteria

  • The work proposal-concept must be an original, unpublished creation in Catalan.
  • The show’s technical aspects must be compatible with the Auditorium space and infrastructure.
  • The timetable for rehearsals must be compatible with the availability of the Centre’s spaces.
  • The company must have its own technical team.

Application Submission

To apply for these spaces, a DOSSIER MUST BE SENT with the following information:

  • The technical specs you need from us and which you can download at www.farinera.org (in the section marked “Arts Escèniques”.
  • A working timetable within the three month limit and requirements for hours and spaces (types of room, rehearsal needs, etc.)
  • A CV of the company and its members if applicable.
  • Technical requirements: whether the company has an individual responsible for sound and lighting or will need support from the Centre.
  • Materials from previous creative projects if deemed necessary as reference material.
  • Any other consideration that needs highlighting.
