Hangar invites a research residency at Centrale Fies in Dro, Italy

Hangar, with the support of the Ramon Llull Institute, is now announcing an open call for a two-week research residency at Centrale Fies in Dro, Italy.
This residency offers an artist based in Catalonia a research residency from 14 to 28 October 2025 at Centrale Fies (Dro, Italy), providing a unique opportunity for artistic exploration, fostering new forms of expression, and encouraging multidisciplinary approaches within contemporary performing arts at both national and international levels.
Centrale Fies is a renowned research center dedicated to contemporary performance practices. Housed in a historic early 20th-century hydroelectric power plant, it supports artistic research and experimentation in performance, including dance, theater, and live arts.
Centrale Fies offers a wide range of material, technical, logistical, and production resources to its residents, including:
- Material resources: access to fully equipped rehearsal and performance spaces, including specialized facilities for dance, theater, and performance. The center also provides technical equipment and tools for the creation and presentation of works.
- Technical support: it will be provided on the first day of installation together with the resident artist and in accordance with the materials available at the hosting facility.
- Mentorship and artistic support: residents have access to specialized mentorship provided by industry professionals and curators. This includes guidance on both artistic development and practical aspects of production.
- Networking opportunities: Centrale Fies facilitates professional connections, offering residents the chance to interact with a broad network of artists, curators, producers, and other arts professionals. This includes potential collaborations with international institutions and festivals.
- Training and development: the center organizes workshops, talks, and events that support the personal and professional growth of artists. Residents can participate in ongoing training opportunities within the field of performing arts.
- Logistical support: residents benefit from logistical assistance, including support in organizing travel, accommodation, and other practical aspects necessary for their stay and work at Centrale Fies.
- Public programming: Centrale Fies supports the promotion of residents’ work through public events, presentations, and showcases, ensuring their projects gain visibility and recognition within the artistic community and among a broader audience.
