KONVENT NATIONAL RESIDENCIES 2019
National open call aimed at creators working in the fields of visual arts, performance, literature, video, photography, sound art, music and new media, who are resident in Spain or have Spanish nationality and would like to produce a piece of creative research work in May at the Konvent de Cal Rosal.
Konvent is a not-for-profit project with over 26 years of history. The building is a former nineteenth-century nunnery located in the old industrial community of Cal Rosal. As well as being home for the nuns with their monastic cells, the mother superior’s quarters and convent spaces, the building also hosts a school, hospital, chapel, sacristy, gardens and various services for creation. All these spaces have been reconverted as exhibition, work and residency rooms, thus providing a unique and inspiring environment, which cannot help but give a strong boost to the creative process.

Residency Aims
The aim of the 2019 Konvent national residency is to support research and creation in our country with no limits of age or artistic discipline. Unlike the international residency taking place in July, the national residency hopes to become a support platform for domestic creative activity, offering a more achievable programme and all the resources available to Konvent. The objective is to offer artists ideal conditions of space and concentration for their research in the unique surroundings of the former industrial community of Cal Rosal. The end result will be presented as part of the regular Konvent programme.
Length of Residency
The national residency will take place during May. The minimum stay is one week and the maximum is four. The artist will have the option of proposing the most convenient dates for them during this period.
