What is Amigos de Eloi Gimeno?

Amigos de Eloi Gimeno is an association that emerged after Gimeno's death with the ambivalent desire to be both formal and informal: to pay tribute to and perpetuate his work, and also to act as an emotional meeting place. By setting up collective projects guided by the ethical and aesthetic path that characterized Gimeno and inspired by his way of working, we intend to create opportunities for reunion and ensure that his work is preserved and transmitted.

What is Welcome to Hell

The self-published Hellsinki (2010) was Eloi Gimeno's first book and marked the beginning of his career as an artist. Showing a highly personal approach, he undertook all the arts and tasks involved in creating and producing the book, from photography and design to printing and distribution.

Hellsinki is a way to understand Eloi Gimeno, but it is also a fundamental work for understanding the recent history of photo books in Spain.Welcome to Hell is our small contribution to that history, a small gesture aimed at promoting knowledge of Eloi's work and giving it continuity—and our homage to a friend.
