The Museu d’Història de Barcelona will be inaugurating up to eight revamped or expanded sites in the coming months.

A new era gets under way for the Museu d’Història de Barcelona (MUHBA). Coinciding with its 80th anniversary, the facility is preparing a conceptual and organisational change which will turn it into the Museu de la Ciutadania.

The coming months will see up to eight MUHBA sites inaugurated, renovated or expanded on different levels, as well as their museum elements. The MUHBA Padellàs stands out and will become the Casa de la Història de Barcelona, as does the MUHBA Bon Pastor, which becomes the Museu de l’Habitatge de la Ciutat, created in collaboration with local people in the neighbourhoods of Bon Pastor and Baró de Viver.

The museum will be marking eight decades of history by opening strategic exhibitions to rethink the city, looking at water and the environment, housing and the neighbourhoods, the working world and mobility.

The Museu d’Història de Barcelona will also be hosting the EMYA 2023 awards (European Museum Forum and Council of Europe), with over thirty European delegations expected to attend.
