Viu Montjuïc 2022

On October 8 and 9 comes the second edition of 'Viu Montjuïc, the Culture Park', a weekend with more than 60 activities co-organized by the Montjuïc facilities and surrounding entities. It is about taking advantage of this open, accessible, clean and safe space with a quality cultural, nature and leisure offer for the citizenry as a whole.
GUIDED TOURS

The guided tours inside the Castle of Montjuïc enclosure offer a historical and patrimonial vision of the fortress. A mediator will talk with visitors to publicize the content of memory, history and heritage related to the Castle. The visit runs a tour of all the spaces in the building, both those that remain outside -such as the parade ground- and those that are not usually visited -such as the old cistern or the dungeons-.

MONTJUÏC WALKING TOURS

The routes of CAMINA MONTJUÏC are itineraries that want to connect the natural, cultural and historical environment of the mountain with the citizens. The objective of this initiative is to place Montjuïc Park in the imaginary of Barcelonan citizens.

SATURDAY 8

       10:30 a.m. - Route 1: "Montjuïc in time." General tour of the history of the Montjuïc mountain, from the Iberians to the present, passing through the Roman quarries, the construction of the Castle, the universal exhibition of '29 and the '92 Olympic Games. A route to discover the importance of the mountain for the city of Barcelona.

      5:00 p.m. - Route 2: "Body and space: the sculpture of public space in terms of gender." Guided tour of the different sculptures in Montjuïc Park, to learn about their history and reflect on the representation of bodies in public space, from a gender perspective, and how this representation influences the collective imagination of society.

      5:00 p.m. - Route "Jewish cemetery." The remains of the old medieval Jewish cemetery in Barcelona are opened in an exceptional way for a day as special as the Viu Montjuïc. A person specialized in the subject will carry out a guided tour of these spaces located at the top of the mountain, next to the Mirador de l’Alcalde.

SUNDAY 9

      10:30 a.m. - Route 3: "Montjuïc and the Paral·lel, fun and diversity of modern Barcelona." We will delve into the most playful and social part of the use of the northeastern slope of the mountain to discover a space for festivals nowadays and yesteryear. Between the theaters of Paral•lel and the fountains of Montjuïc there was an area for leisure, fun and sexual freedom, not without chiaroscuro.

      5:00 p.m. - Route 4: "Montjuïc, a mountain full of life." Route to learn about the geological evolution of the mountain and its current biodiversity, from the landscaped spaces to the forests that dominate the upper part of the mountain. A route to enjoy nature always facing the sea, discovering the flora and fauna hidden in the mountains.

COMBINED GUIDED TOUR MONTJUÏC CASTLE - REFUGI 307

We will begin the visit to the Castle of Montjuïc to learn about its role in Barcelona at the end of the 19th century, also connecting with other key periods such as the Civil War and the paradigm shift that it entailed. Then we will go down on foot to visit Refugi 307, a space built by the residents of Poble-sec during the war, which allows us to delve into the effects of the bombings and the response of the population and institutions to face the new terror aerial.

WE ARE (T) HERE

WE ARE (T)HERE starts from an investigation about the voice from a choreographic perspective. The voice and body of the four performers move generating poetic images, acoustic compositions and sound experiments that make it possible to discover space and human relationships through voice and movement, building meaning around the school identity.

Pere Jou has a degree in Cant, specializing in countertenor, from the Liceu Superior Conservatory. He also has a degree in Audiovisual Communication and Sociology from the University of Barcelona, and has a Master's Degree in Music as Interdisciplinary Art, from the UB.

Aurora Bauzà has a degree in Piano from the Conservatorio Superior de Illes Balears. She also has a degree in Musicology (University of Granada and Freie Universität Berlin), and has a Master's Degree in Music as Interdisciplinary Art from the University of Barcelona.

JAZZ BETWEEN

JazzBetween is a music and dance session to generate a contemporary space for dialogue between Jazz and Non-Jazz, where a space is inhabited from diversity, fun and acceptance of the new poetics of dance and music. JazzBetween is a space open to experimentation and improvisation between sound and movement. JazzBetween is a party. Jazzbetween is a performance.

Marina Pravkina is the founder of the JazzBetween project. Established in Barcelona, she is an artist, teacher and choreographer. She started her career in 2006 with the language of house dance, participating in several international festivals. Since then she has been interested in the styles that are bordering on the idea of footwork and clubbing (house cultures and uk jazz fusion) until arriving at contemporary dance and performance. In 2016 she began to organize the first JazzBetween meetings, which she would end up exporting to Tokyo and Bratislava, despite having her headquarters in Barcelona.
