The Montserrat Roig writing grants are grants for writing projects of any literary genre (narrative, poetry, essay, chronicle, memoirs) aimed at writers who write in any language (Catalan, Spanish, English, French...) who have published at least 1 book. Each year 20 are invited, divided into 2 rounds of 10 scholarships each.
In 2017, the Montserrat Roig Writing Grants were born to provide a space to write for 2 months and financial remuneration to writers with a literary project linked to the city of Barcelona. The name of the scholarships is a tribute to Montserrat Roig (1946-1991), Barcelona writer of novels, short stories, reports and journalistic articles who also presented and directed several television programs.
