The Castle can be reached on foot, by bicycle, by bus, by cable car or by car. If you decide to come by private vehicle, you can use the large public car park near the Castle.
ON FOOT

The walk up to Montjuïc Castle from the top of the funicular (lower station, Paral.lel, metro lines 2 and 3), adjacent to the cable car station, takes about 20 to 25 minutes. It is constantly uphill, with quite steep slopes at some points. The route crosses various gardens, such as those named after Joan Brossa and Mossén Cinto Verdaguer.

BICYCLE

We have a bicycle parking located in the bastion of Santa Amàlia. Visiting the Castle by bicycle helps promote a sustainable transport model. While the ascent is being executed, it is possible to enjoy the unbeatable views offered by the Montjuïc mountain urban park.

BUS: LINE 150

Origin Avinguda de la reina Maria Cristina, terminus Montjuïc Castle. Bus 150 goes round Montjuïc Hill before finally reaching the Castle. The ride from Plaça d'Espanya takes about 20 minutes. The descent from the Castle to the beginning of the line also takes 20 minutes. Bus 150 also connects with the Funicular de Montjuïc at the bus stop Avinguda de Miramar-Estació del Funicular.

You can consult the TMB website for more information.

CABLE CAR

The cable car service begins in Avinguda Miramar and leaves visitors in front of the Castle. It has three stops, the first in Avinguda Miramar, one in the middle in the Plaça de la Sardana, and one in front of the Castle. The price of the cable car does not include admission to the Castle.

BY PRIVATE TRANSPORT

If you decide to come by private vehicle, you can use the large public car park near the castle, which includes an area reserved exclusively for coaches. The entrance to this car park is in Carrer dels Tarongers.

TRAFFIC AFFECTS ON FCB MATCH DAYS (Season 23/24)

Due to the works currently being carried out at the Spotify Camp Nou, from this August until November 2024, FC Barcelona will play at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium. This will mean that on match days the influx of people traveling to the stadium, using different modes of transport, will have an impact on the mobility of Parc de Montjuïc.

  • You should avoid going up the mountain by private car, as there will be different checkpoints and you will not be able to pass them unless you have a special accreditation. If there is no other solution than to take the car (because for example they come from outside the city) the recommended proposal is to go to Fira 2 in the Gran Via area. There will be a large parking lot where you can leave your car and right there you can catch a shuttle bus that will take you directly to the stadium.
  • The best option to go up to Montjuïc will be on foot (the escalators and lighting that give access from Avinguda Maria Cristina/Plaça d'Espanya are being improved) or by public transport (with several nearby metro and bus lines , in addition to the funicular). A new bike path will also be launched later to facilitate access by bike.
